Being a mentor
Being a mentor is a gift in itself. You will be an industry sounding board, helping young people to explore their ideas, giving them the benefit of your experience, but always being careful to advise – not instruct.
The chance to ‘give back’
For many it has been an opportunity to ‘give back’ to the agricultural industry that has provided a fulfilling and rewarding life.
Mentoring also offers the satisfaction of seeing a new generation of talented, enthusiastic young people securing the future of the industry – and knowing that you have played your part in making this happen.
“Becoming a mentor is a uniquely rewarding experience – an opportunity to support the development of our future industry leaders. By giving encouragement when it’s needed, practical suggestions – advice. It is the voice of experience from a well meaning, and yet objective, informed outsider and, as such, worth its weight in gold.”
Philip Wynn, Chairman of Mentors
