Otto's Pumpkin Patch Finn's chosen name

Otto’s Pumpkin Patch

11th October, 2022

At the beginning of the year we were contacted in a telephone call by a young man who at the time was studying at St Andrews University, in Fyfe. He had an idea to set up a Pumpkin Patch on his family farm near Braintree in Essex. His idea was basically to grow a patch of Pumpkins for the Autumn market drawing his inspiration from across the Atlantic where the agrotourism sector has been growing from strength to strength as he put it.  Our man Finnian Cousins was clearly an entrepreneurial individual who hailed from an established farming family but wanted to use the advantage of location close to a couple of large towns to start to grow capital from getting involved in Pumpkin Production.

In due course Finn put in an application which was approved by Trustees and we got to work to find him an appropriate Mentor who would keep an eye on him and help him to become established. I suppose at this point I should let you know that one of the first ways we find a Mentor is to have a discussion with a couple of friends in the area and see if there is a likely candidate. This c ourse was followed in Finns case and our trawl turned up an ideal individual who has helped and guided Finn in a clear but unobtrusive way.

Finn is now at the point where he is looking at the selling season having come through a fairly peculiar growing period but clearly with some good product to promote and sell. In many ways he’s been an exemplary Scholasr in thast he’s kept us up to speed with his developments from the word Go. A natural communicator we feel we’re very much a part of the way he’s been developing and a part of his journey to grow his business.
